A method for producing a fraction of guaiac gum, characterized in that the guaiac gum isolated 4Q from the core of the tropical tree Guajacum officinalis and Guajacum sanktum is dissolved in acetone, then toluene is added, after which the resulting mixture is filtered, the filtrate is evaporated to dryness and the residue is dissolved in n-heptane mixtures and acetic ether in a ratio of 2: 5 or in acetone and separated on a silica gel column in a carbon dioxide atmosphere using an eluent, which is used as a mixture of n-heptane and acetic ether in a ratio of 2: 5 or a mixture of acetone and tolu la in a ratio of 1: 5, whereby the fractions with Rf 0,45 in toluene, dioxane, glacial acetic acid in a ratio of 90:25:10, was evaporated to dryness and their resulting residue was crystallized from p-xylene.
